In Milwaukee, there are about as many races as they are running trails – that is to say, a lot! Here, we’ll highlight upcoming events that are well worth the miles.
Samson Stomp 5k & 2 Mile
When: Sunday, January 14 @9am
Where: Milwaukee County Zoo
Details: This race winds through the Milwaukee County Zoo on the public walkways. Entry fees include a long-sleeved T-shirt, Zoo admission, beverage and parking. Gorilla trophies are awarded to the overall male and female champions and the top three male and female finishers in each age group from 14 and under, through 80+ in 5-year increments in the 5k. Trophies are also awarded to the top three males and females in the 2-mile run.
Pettit Indoor Marathon
When: Sunday, February 11 @8am
Where: Pettit National Ice Center, Milwaukee
Cost: $105 thru Feb. 7
Details: This is the 1st running of the Pettit Indoor Marathon. The race takes place on the Pettit National Ice Center’s 445.2 meter indoor track. In addition to the marathon distance, race weekend will also include a marathon relay, half marathon relay and half marathon distances.
Lucky Leprechaun 7k
When: Saturday, March 17 @10am
Where: Leff’s Lucky Town, Wauwatosa
Cost: $35 through Feb. 1; $40 after Feb 1
Details: This is the 6th running of Lucky Leprechaun – a race and party all in one. Participants receive two free beers, coffee, hot chocolate, and entry to a post-race party with live music. Awards will be given to the top three men and women.
Adrenaline Race Series
When: Saturday, April 28, start time varies based on race distance
Where: River Shores/Cast Iron Residential Complex, 705 Village Green Way, West Bend
Cost: Price varies based on race distance
Details: This race includes half marathon, quarter marathon and 5k race distances. The mostly flat course goes along the scenic Eisenbahn Trail in West Bend. Participants receive an event t-shirt and finisher’s medal. Awards are given to the top finishers.
